When Altman says "it takes a lot of energy to train a human," he's downplaying costs, and he's also implicitly framing humans as an earlier, less efficient version of the same product. Once you're comfortable making that comparison at all, you've already conceded that what a human life amounts to can be measured in energy inputs and outputs. But by the time you're arguing about whether the energy costs are equivalent, you've already accepted the frame, and that's where some real smuggling happens.
Machines have a limited composition. Humans are MENTAL, EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL.
When a human learns, he does so on all levels even though he may think he's employing only one.
Altman is using a self motivated, limited and inaccurate description of what learning involves for a human compared to a machine. He's smart enough to know he's wrong, so the question is WHY is he making the comparison?
Somehow, and you may say 'this is not the place for it', we seem to be leaving the Lord out of this 'discussion' bordering on worship of "ai"
Here's what I have heard repeatedly:
"Are you making tools or idols, child?"
Words from the Lord specifically about AI & technology

"Yes, child, there is instantly and there is forever. Your beautiful minds have sliced what you call ‘time’ into smaller and smaller pieces, with your beautiful electronics, but consider, child, the unholiness of slicing ‘time’ to actually make you run faster and faster. Yes, child, you are right to know that I AM not impressed by the wicked machinations of petaflops or GPU’s, by the foul machinations of the deception of what you call, and how dare you call, ‘artificial intelligence’, for your very minds, hearts, souls ARE MINE AND MINE ALONE.
And Yes, child I AM a jealous God, for I WILL NOT give you over to perverted machinations. "

"Deception, child, is only the beginning, for you have been led astray, blinded and made numb, rendered mute.
Consider carefully what your hands have built: machines, contrivances, engines. As marvelous and intricate as these are, hear me child: THEY DO NOT SEE NOR HEAR!
Those who speak of seeing machines or machine vision or even thinking machines are full of deceit. For who among you will stand to face Me, to speak directly to Me, and say what your machines “see” without power or electricity?
You, my beloved children and all my beloved creatures see and hear, taste, touch and smell as I created, and none require wires or batteries, none require power save that which I breathe into them.
Yes, child, I am very aware of the deceitful headlong rush to make machines that imitate my beloved humanity…
I have spoken to you about what you call semiconductors, and I am not deceived as so many of my children are, deceived by the falsehood of something called artificial intelligence. You may process as fast as you can, you may devise neural abstractions all you wish – it is not intelligence, just as your machines do not see. Remove electric power, child then report to me what your computers see and do.
What of your exalted science and technology am I not aware of, child? Are My eyes deceived by your so-called digital graphics? The fools and deceivers among you believe – and Woe to them! – believe that electronics and genetics, technology and systems are not precious gifts and tools, but power and control, and thus abuse and death. Tell me, does your technology render righteousness or justice?"

Metaphors? Okay. I'll make this simple. Frankenstein.
